     Ed.D. - Social Studies Education, Indiana University, 1981
     M.A. - Economics, University of California at Los Angeles, 1967
     M.Ed. - Secondary Education, University of Hawaii, 1973
     B.A. - Economics, University of California at Los Angeles, 1965

Previous Experience:
Dr. Jackstadt joined the UAA faculty in 1985 after fourteen years at the University of Hawaii. His Teaching experience includes Indiana University, secondary schools in Hawaii and elementary schools in Los Angeles. He has also worked as a research economist in private industry.

Areas of Expertise:


University, Professional, Public Service:
Dr. Jackstadt directs the UAA Center for Economic Education and serves as volunteer Executive Director of the Alaska Council on Economic Education.

Professional Affiliations:
Dr. Jackstadt is a member of the National Association of Economic Educators, the American Economic Association and the Association for Private Enterprise Education.

Scholarship/Creative Activity:
Dr. Jackstadt has authored or co-authored articles in journals such as Environmental and Resource Economics, the American Economist, the Journal of Economic Perspectives and Social Education. He is also the co-author of four economics comic books designed for high school students, including Superheroes of Macroeconomics, Adventures in the Alaska Economy and one that explains capitalism to Russian students.

Dr. Jackstadt is a past winner of the UAA Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
