University, Professional, Public Service:
Professor Koshiyama has served as the Chair of the Department of Accounting. She has also served UAA as Co-Chair of the Teaching Excellence Program and the UAA Career Services Center Advisory Board. Professor Koshiyama has actively participated on the following committees: the Chancellor's Award for Excellence Committee, the Provost Search Committee, the Office of Academic Affairs Dream Team, the CAFE Advisory committee, the Provost's Council for Academic Advising, the Faculty Grants and Leave Committee, the Provost's Newcomer Committee and the UAA Student Showcase Committee. Professor Koshiyama has served on the UAA New Faculty Orientation Program Committee and the UAA Freshman Convocation Steering Committee. Professor Koshiyama has also been a mentor for the Multicultural Mentorship Program and judge on the AHAINA Women of Excellence Program Committee. Professor Koshiyama has chaired the Standards Committee for the College of Business and Public Policy and has served on the CBPP's Accounting and Computer Information and Office Systems Department Search Committees as well as English 212 Task Force Committees. She also organized and advised the UAA chapter of the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society, has been an advisor for the UAA Accounting Club and serves as internship Coordinator for the accounting department. Professor Koshiyama has volunteered with Junior Achievement and the Boys and Girls Club and made presentations for the Anchorage School District. She is also been involved with the Northern Light ABC School PTSA (treasurer), Mears Middle School PTSA, Dimond High School PTSA and has served as treasurer and member of the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Anchorage Municipal Libraries and treasurer for the Anchorage Softball Association (now Anchorage Sports Association, Inc.) Professor Koshiyama has served on the Board of Directors of the Alaska Society of CPAs and served as treasurer for two terms. She has co-chaired the ASCPA Relations with Education Committee from 1995-2006. Professor Koshiyama also serves on the Board of the American Society of Women Accountants-Anchorage Chapter.

Professor Koshiyama is affiliated with the Amiercan Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Society of Women Accountants, Alaska Society of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and American Accounting Association.

Scholarship/Creative Activity:

Professor Koshiyama is a Certified Public Accountant. She has been included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and awarded Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Teaching and Advising Awards by the College of Business and Public Policy. She was nominated for a Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service, and received the 1990 Paul Hagelbarger Memorial Scholarship.
