Course Description
This course utilizes the Capstone Strategic Management Simulation. The simulation provides the opportunity to experience running a business as a member of a senior management team, to set corporate strategies and apply strategic concepts and techniques within a practical decision-making framework. One is required to integrate decisions in all functional areas (Marketing, Research & Development, Production, Human Resources and Finance). The simulation enables students to observe the impact of these decisions on business performance within a competitive market- comprised of other students in the class as well as student teams simultaneously competing from other universities around the world.
Course
Objectives
The objective of this course is to demonstrate the interrelationship of strategic planning and functional decision-making. Specifically, the following concepts and processes will be addressed:
Situation & SWOT Analysis
Strategic Planning: Corporate Growth & Competitive Strategies
Functional Integration
Market Segmentation & Positioning Strategy
Marketing Mix Strategy & Tactics
Participation in the management simulation will enhance your understanding of:
Strategic issues and options
The benefits and drawbacks of different strategies
The nature & range of decisions that need to be considered when implementing selected strategies
