     Ph.D. - University of Manitoba, 1999

Previous Experience:
Dr. Prokop was a Research Associate at the Transport Institute of the University of Manitoba and a Lecturer in the Department of Economics. He was also a Policy Economist with Agriculture Canada as well as an Inventory Control Planner with Motor Coach Industries, Ltd.

Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Prokop specializes in transportation economics as well as its effect on international trade. He also undertakes research in the area of government policy as related to transportation service provision and infrastructure. His research in logistics concerns: the "microfoundations" of logistics theory; the role of customer service along the supply chain; and transportation regulation as a non-tariff barrier to international trade.

University, Professional, Public Service:
Dr. Prokop joined the Department of Business Administration in the Fall of 2000 and became a faculty member of the Department of Logistics which was formed the following year. After two years of overseeing the undergraduate program in Global Logistics Management, he now directs the Master of Science in Global Supply Chain Management Program. At the graduate level, Dr. Prokop also designed the curriculum for the course entitled "International Supply Chain Management and Marketing Strategies". The focus of the course is the effect of international borders, trade policies, and trade blocs on effective supply chain management.

Dr. Prokop is also an adjunct professor in the UAA Honors Program.


Professional Affiliations:
Dr. Prokop is a member of: The American Economic Association (AEA); The Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP); The Canadian Transportation Research Forum (CTRF); The Institute for Supply Management (ISM); and The Canada-America Society (CAS).

Scholarship/Creative Activity:
Dr. Prokop's publications involve international transportation regulations; specifically, "cabotage" regulations and "open skies" agreements. He has also published seminal works on the "microfoundations" of logistics and on supply chain security.

Current research involves: customer service provision within the supply chain; air cargo regulations; taxation and transportation; and supply chain security.

Dr. Prokop's scholarly reseach has been published in: The Journal of Air Transport Management; The Journal of Transportation Law, Logisitics and Policy; The International Journal of Logistics Management; The Northwest Journal of Business and Economics; The Canadian Journal of Transportation; and The Canadian Tax Journal.

Dr. Prokop's practitioner and opinion articles have appeared in: Policy Options; Log Trucker; Inbound Logistics; and the Proceedings of the Canadian Transportation Research Forum.

Dr. Prokop's contractual research and teaching activity has involved: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA); Horizon Lines, LLC; The Port of Anchorage; and the Canadian Consulate General (Seattle).
