Degrees:

    Ph.D. - Accounting, University of Colorado at Boulder, 1993
    M.A. - Accounting, University of Colorado at Boulder, 1988
    B.A. - Political Science, University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, 1976

Previous Experience:
Dr. Fort joined the UAA faculty in 1993. Prior to that he taught at the University of Colorado at Boulder while completing his doctoral work. He has also taught at the Economics Institute in Boulder and has been a lecturer for the American Russian Center in Magadan and Khabarovsk, Russia.

Areas of Expertise:
Dr. Fort specializes in financial accounting and teaches intermediate and advanced accounting.

University, Professional, Public Service:
Dr. Fort has served UAA as Chair of the Faculty Affairs Board and on the Polaris Lecture Committee, the Faculty Executive Committee, the Faculty Compensation Equity Committee and the UAA Compensation Task Force. He has served the College of Business and Public Policy as Chair of the Faculty Standards and Improvement Committee, a Departmental Faculty Search Committee, and has been a member of the CBPP Computer Network Advisory Committee, the Graduate Committee and the Awards Committee. Dr. Fort has also been the faculty advisor of the UAA Accounting Club. Dr. Fort served four years as Treasurer of United Academics AAUP/AFT. He has been a textbook reviewer and tester, and an ad hoc reviewer for the 2000 and 1999 Western Decision Sciences Annual meeting and the 1993 Annual Meeting of the American Accounting Association. Dr. Fort was Grant Administrator for the IREX/USAID Partnership with Magadan International Pedagogical University during 1997.

Professional Affiliations:
Dr. Fort is a member of the American Accounting Association, the American Association of University Professors, and the American Federation of Teachers.

Scholarship/Creative Activity:
Dr. Fort's current scholarship focuses on Social Security and teaching the value of money concepts. His publications have appeared in the Journal of Applied Business Research and the IBES Research Bibliography (Fifth Edition). Dr. Fort has made professional presentations at regional and national conferences, including meetings of the Decision Sciences Institute and the Western American Accounting Association.

Honors, Awards, Certificates, Licenses:
Dr. Fort was named the College of Business and Public Policy Teaher of the Year in 2000 and the UAA Accounting Club Teacher of the Year in 1996.
