Accounting Club V.I.T.A.
Want an opportunity to learn about income
tax accounting? How about a chance to fly
around the state on someone elses ticket?
The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (V.I.T.A.)
program is a volunteer income tax
preparation service sponsored by the Alaska
Business Development Center, the IRS, and
the University of Alaska Anchorage. Each
spring semester students from UAA and other
participating universities around the
country are provided an opportunity to learn
more about tax preparation. In addition to
gaining valuable tax experience, students
are also afforded an opportunity to observe
village life throughout the state of Alaska.
Earn upper division credit, while making a
difference in the lives of Alaskans. V.I.T.A
participants are required to have
successfully completed at least one
prerequisite tax course (either Acct 210 or
Acct 310 at UAA), in addition to pass the
Volunteer Return Preparation Program exam
before starting the course.
For those individuals who want to
participate but cannot leave the Anchorage
area, the V.I.T.A. program additionally
offers free tax preparation services on the
UAA campus.
