President
Name: Ben Persinger
Major: Accounting
Hi, my name is Ben Persinger,
and came to UAA in spring of 06
to get an associates in Small
Business Admin. Somewhere along
the way I decided to pursue a
bachelors degree as well.
Originally, I started out as a
management major, but after
taking a couple of accounting
classes, I discovered that I
enjoyed them much more than the
management courses, so I decided
to switch to accounting. Prior
to my going to school at UAA I
was a construction worker were I
primarily did carpentry. I also
had the opportunity to
apprentice as a blacksmith
(ornamental iron worker) for
three winters, worked in a
sawmill, and did knife making on
the side. Currently, I am
planning to graduate in spring
of 2010 and will then work on
getting my CPA license.
As for my
involvement in the accounting
club, I am happy to be serving
my second year on the board of
directors (Vice-President
2008-2009), and as the President
this year. I would like to
strongly encourage anyone who is
interested in business or
accounting to get involved, as
there are many fantastic
opportunities available through
the club. Furthermore, I would
like to personally thank all
those to make it possible. Last
but not least, in the little
spare time I have, I enjoy
renovating houses, metalworking,
fishing, hiking, and many more.
If you have any questions or
concerns please don’t hesitate
to contact me either at school,
through the club at
ayacct@uaa.alaska.edu , or
personally at
asblp18@uaa.alaska.edu
